THE MOAT

An English Heritage preserved site, mentioned in the Doomsday Book, it provides a well established fishery situated at the back of the library in Whitmore Way, Basildon.
It consists of a moated island of approximately 1 acre containing 40 purpose built swims including some suitable for the less abled with wheelchair access and toilets within the fishery.
The fishery provides easy access and very pleasant surroundings. A heavily stocked water with numerous carp in the 3 –20 lb range together with a mixed variety of Tench, Roach ,Rudd, Perch, eels, Crucian Carp and Gudgeon.

Kennel Lane

Approximately 1.25 acres of reed fringed lake in the Billericay area .
​A mixed fishery with a good head of Tench, Roach, Rudd, Bream, Perch, Gudgeon Crucian Carp, Carp to 29 lbs, Chub/Rudd and Roach/Bream Crucian/Fantail hybrids make it a productive water with considerable depth (12ft+) in places.

The River Chelmer, Boreham

Situated at Boreham situated on the north bank from the road bridge downstream.
This is an excellent summer and winter fishery with depths ranging from 4 to 8ft and in normal conditions a steady flow. Predominant species are Pike, Roach, Dace, Chub, Perch and Bream with a good chance of Tench and Carp.

Basildon and District Angling Society’s

The club has been established for over 50 years, primarily a club for pleasure anglers

 The club does however run various competitions for members both on our own and away venues.
